The O.C. Season 2 is honest as pleasurable as the first season. I like the fact that the indicate is not unbiased about kids in high school, but also their parents and family and how they all interact. The cast is really beneficial and believable enough to either construct you adore them or disfavor them. The prove is very emotional at times and it is very addicting. I deem what shrinking me away before I ever saw an episode was that I figured The O.C. was objective another demonstrate about rich kids in California like Beverly Hills 90210 and/or Melrose situation. The indicate is so distinguished more than those other shows and has fair the correct amount of drama mixed in with unprejudiced the accurate amount of heart. I highly recommend The O.C. for anyone who likes must peer TV. This Complete Second season of The O.C. will be released on August 23rd, 2005 unbiased in time for the premiere of season 3 in the Tumble. This 7-DVD state will maintain all 24 episodes from the second season, and a disc bulky of bonus material, too. The colossal news is that unlike season 1 season 2 will be in Widescreen. There will be an English Dolby Surround audio track, along with English, French and Spanish subtitles.

The second luminous season of “The OC” is correct to effect and typically blends halarious comedy with its at times controversal drama. Though perhaps not as consistant as its first flawless season, “Season Two” is nevertheless a compelling gawk.
Picking up where we left out awesome foursome: Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie) is relieve in his hometown of Chino; Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) has been blackmailed into living with her mother, for whome she has worthy hatred; Seth Cohen (Adam Brody), distraught and lost after his best friend’s departure, has accelerate away to Portland; leaving his girlfriend Summer ROberts (Rachel Bilson) tedious in Newport.
Following the resolutions of these situations, reach many more situations! These include: A long lost relative of the Cohens, a lesbian relationship, an ex-con coming to cease, a drug overdose, a near-rape, a divorce, a death and a shooting! Enough? ‘Course not! I’ve merely skimmed the surface!
This season, perhaps a bit more than “Season One” takes effect on some very prominant issues in teenagers’ lives. Issues including, homosexuality, rape violence are explored. I savor that “The OC” goes into these relavant issues, as the majority of viewers are teenagers whome must face them in true life.
Having said that, I also like how “The OC” always manages to have that silly edge to it. The screenplay, by Josh Schwartz, is bulky of more extraordinary one-liners and wonderfully laughable scenes, bringing out that “OC” style of never taking itself TOO seriously!
Finally, the music as per usual, is extraordinary. This is particularly thanks to the addition of “The Bait Shop,” a regular hang-out area for the gang where bands design live. It adds that extra “OC-ish” element to the demonstrate. The music definately has more of a prominant role in bringing out emotion and other moods to their fat.
And without giving too grand away the finale of this 24-episode is, in my concept, is the best “OC” episode ever made. THe ending left me utterly paralysed and craving for the third season!
I thouroughly enjoyed this second season. My only criticism would maybe be that it started out a minute listless, by it regained itself and finaled to a truly glorious effect! Through its tremendous script-writing to the contagious music, “The OC” will be around for a dinky while yet!

No movie protrayal can match a obedient book, but Jackson’s attempt is the best ever trouble in the history of movies. His team’s spacious amount of research, attention to detail and savor of the new literary work comes through. Yes, some dwelling lines are altered in minor ways to withhold the off-screen characters share of the movie as it tranquil has to aid an audience that didn’t read the books, but overall anyone must worship their work. Yes, all of us Tolkien fanatics would care for to witness a movie of 139 hours in length that shows every scene and includes every line of dialog from the books, including Tom Bombadil and the everything else, exactly as written, but that obviously isn’t going to happen.
Sam – please read the books again as many of your review details are improper. Gollum does have an internal struggle of Smeagol vs. Gollum, it’s true in the book. It is dazzling determined in the movie that Sam is disgusted by Gollum and Frodo is more pitying him, same as the book. There is the conflict between Arwen and Elrond about her relationship with Aragorn and her struggle with remaining elfen and going West vs. staying with Aragorn. But it is subplot not detailed in the books as considerable, but Jackson is trying to flesh out characters. Aragorn does have doubts and struggles about coming out of hiding to rise to the thrown, he sets this up more in movie #2 for movie #3 but it is there in the books. Saruman does have control over nameless character “A” which nameless “B” breaks with a struggle and in the movie he has to execute it positive (over-do-it) what is going on or movie-goers would go “what the heck? ” since they aren’t reading the book. Saruman does rip down all the trees and into forest which P-O’s the Ents, absorbing them into action, which WAS inspired by Tolkien’s despise of the industrial age (more to arrive in movie #3 I’m clear as in the books) . There are warg-riding (i.e. gigantic rats) orcs (even befriend in the Hobbit books) – READ THE BOOKS AGAIN!!!
But some variations are needed for a movie version for the general public; I’ll agree with you that all were not needed _FOR_US_, but there is the Joe Blow label buyer he is trying to entertain as well, to actually invent money on this large project (which was completed, by the arrangement, before movie #1 came out and was smooth a gamble then; hindsight only shows he could have gotten away with “less”, perhaps) .

It’s easy to trudge down grasp on every detail especially when movies are based on books. But this has to be (with the others in the series) some of the best movies ever made, and clearly the best attempt to mirror books on the screen; especially with the fantasy setting and special effects requirements. “To Waste a Mockingbird” is another gargantuan adaption, but it’s not so hard to bag a little Southern town and a guy named “Boo” as it is to fabricate Balrogs, Orcs, Rings of Power and the Contemplate that Never Sleeps. Give him a atomize.
It’s hard to know where to initiate in articulating a coherent summary of so spectacular an record as Peter Jackson’s rendering of Tolkein’s masterpiece. Perhaps the most incisive comment I can effect is that, having been a fan of “The Lord of the Rings” since I first read the trilogy nearly 35 years ago, I’m impressed by Jackson’s fidelity to the spirit of the new literary work.
“The Two Towers” is a very different kind of film than its predecessor. Don’t seek information from the intimacy of “The Fellowship of the Ring”; the evolution of the tale precludes it. The dissolution of the Fellowship scattered the well-known characters of the first film into three sure sub-plots: Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd), whose recall by the Uruk-Hai takes them into Fangorn Forest and their ultimate influence on the fate of Saruman (Christopher Lee) ; Legolas (Orlando Bloom), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), who re-unite with a resurrected Gandalf (Ian McKellan) in the climactic battle of Helm’s Deep; and Frodo (Elijah Wood) & Sam (Sean Astin), who continue their quest to raze the Ring at Orodruin (ably played by Mount Doom) in Mordor. That’s a lot of threads to weave into the overall tapestry of the narrative, and it necessarily calls for some fairly abrupt and snappily scene changes. The action is so fast-paced that you will barely have time to gather your breath.
One of the most personally meaningful aspects of the film — and so far, it has been accurate of both “The Fellowship of the Ring” and “The Two Towers” — is Jackson’s uncompromising adherence to Tolkein’s vision of the timelessness of the fable itself. The author was certain NOT to write a account that served as an allegory for any of the recent events of his time, but rather hoped to address worthy broader issues that are rooted in the fundamentals of human nature. In so doing, the trilogy has remained relevant to the human condition in a procedure that transcends nationalities, ethnicities, and the various idiosyncratic cultural zeitgeists of any of the historical periods it has spanned. I earn right personal relevance in Aragorn’s struggle with his believe destiny. It’s not a predetermined kind of destiny, as in “fate”, but rather the self-determined destiny of one who follows his heart and his beget integrity. Ditto for Eowyn (Miranda Otto), whose struggle to fulfill her desire for valor in the service of superb is established in “The Two Towers”, and will culminate in the final installment, “The Return of the King”.

But Jackson’s triumph runs grand deeper than his artistry in character development; many enormous films portion that characteristic. It is his mastery in the utilize of surpassing technological innovation as an assist in the storytelling rather than as an destroy in itself that raises the bar for all subsequent films. His combination of digital, fabricated, and natural scenery in creating the world of Middle Earth is simply breathtaking. The battle scenes are homely without being overwhelming in their reliance on gratuitous violence or gross bloodshed. [I will allow my daughters (8 and 12 years of age) to gawk the films, and I am probably more protective of their sensibilities than most parents I know.] And Jackson’s creation of the creature Gollum (Andy Serkis) is without equal or precedent in filmmaking history. Gollum is more than simply “believable”; he is precise. His role in the account is pivotal, and it was Jackson’s test of fire to make an all-digital character whose range of expression and movement could carry such an indispensable fragment in the tale. It is a masterpiece of moviemaking art.
It will seem incomprehensible to the uninitiated that my only lament about the three-hour film is that it is too short. That’s hardly a criticism, for Jackson has included everything that is relevant to the myth line in setting the stage for the trilogy’s climax in the third film. As a matter of practicality, the film can’t exceed three hours for simple economic reasons. A longer film would mean fewer showings — not beneficial for the profitability of movie theatres — or a higher note of admission, which would not be common with moviegoers. So, the filmmaker has had to accommodate those constraints, and I acquire it’s a job well done.
Still, it’s inevitable that one who has read the book will rep discrepancies or omissions in the film, but that’s not the basis of my wish that the film were longer. Rather, it’s more a matter of being sorry that it was over at the raze. “The Two Towers” is so spicy, so utterly exciting a film-watching experience, that I found myself wanting more. What better statement could one get about the success of the filmmaker who wants his customers to approach encourage for the third and final share of this narrative trilogy? The consolation to those who want more will undoubtedly be in the release of the special edition DVD, which — like its counterpart for “The Fellowship…” — will add vital additional footage to the theatrical version.
Finally, for all the unparalleled technological excellence of the film, the most compelling reason of all to leer it is the legend itself. If you treasure gargantuan movies crafted by professionals with vision who enlighten a mighty tale exceedingly well, you simply must leer “The Lord of the Rings”. It’s positive that the trilogy has found a special area in moviegoers’ hearts. I saw “The Two Towers” at Edwards Cinema in Brea, California at a matinee showing on December 23, 2002, in a full-house audience of people of all ages. When the initial title “The Lord of the Rings” appeared on the veil, the audience spontaneously burst into applause. I have never seen that happen at any movie I have ever attended, and for favorable reason – there has never been a movie like this before.

Movie Title: Helter Skelter Helter Skelter is available for streaming or downloading. |
1976′s “Helter Skelter” is an intense and quite suspenseful TV movie, starring Steve Railsback, who is so reliable as Charles Manson, it’s rather eerie. The film also stars George DiCenzo, as Los Angeles prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi. The tele-film is based on Mr. Bugliosi’s best-selling true-crime recent of the same title.

The film is told in semi-documentary style (with DiCenzo doubling as narrator throughout the movie) . It begins with a very spine-chilling scene in the early-morning hours of August 9, 1969, in Los Angeles, California. We hear multiple gunshots from a distance. Gunshots which emanated from nearby 10050 Cielo Drive, the home of movie director Roman Polanski and his pregnant wife, 26-year-old actress Sharon Tate.
The gunshots were fired by a member of Charles Manson’s so-called “Family”. And so began one of the most bizarre chapters in the history of crime — a senseless massacre, claiming the lives of seven innocent people, that became commonly known as the “Tate/LaBianca Murders”.

Manson’s “zombie” killers racked up five murders at the Tate station, and the next night went out and killed two more people they had never met, Mr. and Mrs. LaBianca, at 3301 Waverly Drive, in another portion of Los Angeles (Los Feliz) .
(In my maintain plan, Manson and his team of brainwashed murderers should *really* have been charged with EIGHT killings in August 1969. Number eight being the unborn child of Sharon Tate.)
The film recreates the discovery of the two horrible execute scenes with nerve-wracking effectiveness, but without showing too noteworthy gore, which is all the better (as well as tasteful) . But the fact that this was a 1976 made-for-TV feature no doubt shrimp the filmmakers with regard to showing material of an overly-graphic nature.
The narrative of the brutal killings and the lengthy court trial that followed is detailed very well in this rarely-seen, full-length (184-minute) DVD version of “Helter Skelter”. The previous video (VHS) release of the film only ran a paltry 119 minutes, with (obviously) many scenes gash from the recent print.
The movie was originally shown as a “2-Parter” on network television, with a total running time of 194 minutes (10 minutes longer than what we earn on this DVD) . But, despite missing ten minutes, we’re not really losing any relative scenes or information. Because the ten minutes that are missing are simply “recap” scenes that were outmoded for the network telecast in order to re-acquaint viewers with the storyline and previous “Fraction 1″ scenes. Plus, also trimmed from the DVD version is a needless “slay credits from Allotment 1″ sequence. Therefore, this 184-minute version of the film *is*, in execute, the “complete” film (when taken in the context of a “one-part” motion relate, rather than a two-parter) .
The icing on this movie’s cake is the knowing and highly-effective music win by Billy Goldenberg. Goldenberg’s unsettling obtain evokes a feeling of uneasiness and is downright scary in many instances during the film.
Mr. Goldenberg was one busy music composer in the 1970s. He wrote musical themes to many TV shows during that era — including: “Rhoda”, “Night Gallery”, “Banacek”, “Kojak”, “Harry O”, and lots of others.
The DVD’s aspect ratio is Full-Frame (1.33:1), as originally shown on TV. Video quality on this disc looks very and distinct. I am extremely happy with the relate quality. There’s an occasional blemish, artifact, or dust speckle, but not very many. Certainly not enough to execute a distraction. In fact, even the nighttime images in the film (which can often search for “grainy” on an older movie) point to great clarity here, with very runt grain visible.
I’ve found that another ample “test” of a DVD’s represent quality (that’s worked well for me) is the “Freeze Frame Test”. Try “freezing” any image on the DVD. Does the stilled report become blurry, distorted-looking, and fuzzy? If it can’t be “frozen” without blurring (or minimal blurring), then I’d give that DVD video transfer a lower note on the extinct “PQ Scorecard” than a more solid transfer where the narrate can be paused and frozen in near-perfect clarity. “Helter Skelter”, in my thought, passes the “Freeze Test” very nicely. Non-moving images on cloak can be paused with itsy-bitsy or no blurriness resulting.
In short, this DVD offers up a very agreeable Digital transfer for a TV-Movie made in 1976.
This snazzy-looking DVD version of “Helter Skelter” makes my ultra-poor, third-generation VHS copy of the film survey much crummy indeed! Needless to say, that VHS video is now destined for the scrap pile.
The soundtrack offered up here is a 1.0 Dolby Digital Mono track; and it’s quite adequate (although a tiny amount of “ghosting” is evident during some parts of the film) . Mr. Goldenberg’s shiver-inducing musical come by comes through honest blooming via this mono presentation. And all dialogue sounds definite, distinct, and is easily understood.
Extra Features …. There are none (unless you want to count subtitles, which are included — in English, French, and Spanish) . But this lack of extras doesn’t disappoint me greatly. Honest getting this generous TV film in top-quality Digital build on DVD is enough for me. (Although I would have *loved* a commentary by the real-life Manson prosecutor, Vince Bugliosi. But I figured that was too distinguished to hope for. And it was.)
Menus …. The menus for “Helter Skelter” are “static” (non-animated) ones, with the Main Menu being accompanied by a variation of the eerie music glean. Unfortunately, this is one of those discs where the movie begins playing all by itself after the Main Menu has been on veil for 30 seconds (which is approved, it seems, with a lot of Warner Bros. DVDs) .
If you’re a fan of “good crime” tales, then this DVD should definitely rep its contrivance into your Digital Library. Portion documentary, fraction thriller, portion drama, share awe film, and ALL factual — “Helter Skelter” (1976) is a fair nail-biter.
Bought this TV classic, which has been LONG OVERDUE for DVD release, and was EXTREMELY dissapointed to collect it has been censored. Yes, censored. I have a copy of the new 2-part on VHS, and I was scared to come by out that this DVD release is censored.

The cops raid Manson and his family at Spahn’s Ranch and have gathered them up in a circle, with Charlie in the center. The cops bring in a handcuffed Shorty, who claims he’s not allotment of the family. He offers to jabber the police what he knows, which brings out jeers of SNITCH from the famlily. Charlie looks up an says, “It’s not nice to snitch, Shorty.” Shorty promptly replies, “Go f*** yourself, Charlie. This DVD version has Shorty instead saying “Horse manure.”
When Bugliosi is interviewing Paul Watkins (the man who first explains to Vince what Helter Skelter means), he says that people are “shrinking s***less.” This is painfully dubbed over with a cough.
The biggest dissapointment was in that during the waddle, when Linda Kasabian is testifiying about the Tate murders, the scenes of carnage (which had previously been seen clearly) are shown with Kasabian and Bugliosi super-imposed.

My demand is, why? This DVD would have been an instant 5, but I felt as though I was watching a version of “Cannonball Urge” on TV.
This DVD release does not do this film justice. You do not accept the fleshy impact of this distinguished film due to the censorship. Very puzzling.

This is a very glorious telling of the events that were to become the most illustrious “haunting” of our time. On the night of Nov. 13,1974, drug crazed Ron Defeo Jr. shot and killed all five members of his family. After a short investigation, he was sent to jail and the house sold to the Lutz’s family. After 28 days there the family fled in the middle of the night and said that demons and all manner of supernatural “things” forced them out of the house. Not long after, with Author Jay Anson They gave the world “The Amityville Apprehension” and made millions! Besides giving us the facts as told by the family this respectable program looks into the case and finds many things that don’t add up in the memoir. A comely part of reporting that shows this was one of the better “Hoax’s” ever done on the American people. Well worth the time and money!
Beginning with the history of this distinguished house at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, there is a surprisingly expansive and intriguing amount of information about the property it resides on and the surrounding areas. Research indicates that this timeline goes serve for generations. While some of these past findings remain questionable to this day, other facts brought to light are eerie and compelling when considering unique events that purportedly occurred here.

Moving forward to more original times and substantiated events, the DeFeo family tragedy is explored beginning with their disappear to this house in the summer of 1965. According to official records, a seemingly glad family began a downward spiral in 1973 when violence and abuse in the household escalated and reached the breaking point in November of 1974. On the thirteenth day of this month, Ronald DeFeo Jr. weak a high powered rifle to slay his parents and four siblings. With all of these facts not in drawl, what are spellbinding are several aspects of the kill that baffled investigators afterward and they are revealed here.
In December of 1975, George & Cathy Lutz and their three children buy up status in the now vacated home but fly the premises forever on January 14th, 1976. Loyal interviews with the Lutz’s and re-creations of events portrayed there show what seem to have been some horrid and downright bizarre occurrences on many levels. Upon fleeing this house and bewitching to California, they insist that the haunting continued to plague them for several years afterward. Inexplicably, all successive residents of this house since that time have not experienced anything out of the ordinary.

I have read the book by Jay Anson and seen the movie (both of which insecure me at the time) and I’ve also done some research on this topic online and elsewhere. With that in mind, I offer the following. The History Channel has done a comprehensive job of examining the Lutz’s `official’ yarn of events here, in my understanding. It appears that was the sole scheme of this program and it stands well on its absorb in that regard. On the other hand, the entire spectrum was not examined in this production in relation to questionable facts, unproven claims, and possible fabrications in the account that others have found and documented. Despite the one sided come here, `Amityville: The Haunting’ is another decent installment of the History’s Mysteries series. Whether you bear in the truthfulness of this epic or lean toward the more commonly common theory that it was a hoax, it is fun to notice nevertheless and it’s even a small bit creepy at times.

Movie Title: The Thin Man The Thin Man is available for streaming or downloading. |
THE THIN MAN is a landmark film in so many ways that it is difficult to over-estimate either its impact or its brilliance. Based on the approved modern by Dashiell Hammet, the film presents us with a completely egalitarian husband and wife who trade witticisms as freely as they mix cocktails–and the view was so completely unexpected that it proved extremely controversial in the 1930s and even today quiet sets the standard for witty comedies in which couples prefer in clever verbal sparring. The script is interesting and clever; the cinematography by James Wong Howe anticipates later film noir by mixing glossy dismal and white beauty with an underlying grittiness; W.S. Van Dyke’s direction is swiftly paced and never allows your attention to wander; the supporting cast is remarkably fine; and the production values offer MGM at the height of its worthy powers.
All of this would be enough to perform THE THIN MAN memorable, but what really elevates it into a rarified atmosphere is the chemistry between leads William Powell and Myrna Loy, who handle their lines like heavenly rapiers, playing a combination of dry wit and unexpectedly silliness in high relief against a remarkably dismal narrative of multiple abolish. Hard drinking, and mixing socially with both the uppercrust and the underworld, they are the people we would like to be in the sort of relationship we would like to acheive: glamorous, stylish, shiny, and having huge fun as they work together to track down a missing inventor who may or may not be responsible for his lover’s sudden destroy. Although Powell and Loy made numerous films together, including five sequels to this one, THE THIN MAN shows them at their zenith, and I can assume of no other cover couple to date who have played so effectively together.
Regrettably, the DVD release has not been restored, and although the print is crisp it does possess a number of blemishes; similarly, although the DVD does include trailers for all of the “Thin Man” films Powell and Loy made, the bonus features hardly do justice to the film’s inexhaustible charms. Serene, I do recommend the DVD over a VHS for the simple reason that you are likely to return to the film again and again, hoping some of the Powell-Loy sophistocation will rub off–and in the process you are likely to wear out a VHS in fairly short order. Of all the many films I have seen and enjoyed, this is probably the one I have watched most often, and I cannot recommend too highly. A must have for your collection.
“Would you mind putting that (gun) away? My wife doesn’t mind, but I’m a very frightened fellow…” Talk about memorable movie lines! The Thin Man is simply one of the best detective films I have ever seen, and one of my common movies. William Powell and Myrna Loy star as Lop and Nora Charles, recently of California. Support in the Large Apple with Asta, their “mettlesome” sidekick pooch, the two drink (“Want a drink? ” “What do you reflect? “), dine, and solve a abolish case(reluctantly, on Nick’s portion) while giving the audience the time of their lives. Cleverly written and brilliantly played are Slice and Nora themselves, and William Powell and Myrna Loy rival Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. I give this film two VERY eager thumbs up, and recommend these for anyone with a obedient taste for movies in general. Who could forget Slice blasting a hole through the window and pretending to be asleep? Or Nora’s first appearance, taking a gargantuan spill as Asta drags her towards Slice? And who could forget that last endearing threat to Asta by Nora-”If you let anything happen to him, you’ll never wag that tail again!” How…sweet.
